Wtf does arbitrary even mean?

I used it in one of my answers in a final, but idk what it means, it just seemed to go with the flow of what I was writing 🤦🤔

@Azrael yep, like if I rule out that you cannot wear a dress to school.and you ask me why not and I reply, because I think it represents blah,blah, blah.... That would be an arbitrary reason.
