Technically speaking when it comes to men and women the women attempt suicide more frequently and use pills. Men have a higher success rate using a firearm or hanging themselves but their attempts are not as frequent as women.
I speak from experience when I say that taking a bunch of pills doesn't take you quietly and painlessly. Your stomach doesn't like it. I was screaming and doubled over in pain. Later in the hospital after what seemed like hours of puking my mom was sitting next to me and she kept saying to herself "I wish your father was here." He was away on business and really needed his support. I felt terrible for putting her through that.
You might think it's a good way out but it's not. You might think that everyone doesn't realize it but they will be better without you and they might be sad for awhile after you are gone but eventually they will get over it and be better for it. You might think you are just a burden or not worth it. You might think you can't get away from memories that make you worthless.
