@Nimbus We started to after getting new furniture and putting down Persian carpets. The second time we sat at the table the boy says “Now we are eating together like a family”... he made air quotes with his fingers when he said “family”...haha.

@cherokeepatti Awww. That's sweet! Kids like that!

@SW-User They say that families don’t sit together at the table to eat like they used to and it is a bonding experience. You can sit and talk without distractions.
SW-User
@cherokeepatti I think it's a great idea. I grew up that way.

@SW-User The other day we were having a snack at the table, I don’t remember what we were talking about but the conversation went on for about 15 minutes. When we finished he got up and thanked me for talking to him.

@cherokeepatti It's wonderful that you really listen! So many adults don't listen to kids.

@SW-User He’s a good kid, respectful..he’s gotten awards each year for respect. Want to get him in a different school besides the middle school that’s in our district. It’s rated a 4 out of 10 (his elementary school is rated a 8)...took a tour of a private school last week and submitted an application, it’s only a couple miles away in a rural area...the other school is about 16 miles away and is a math & science charter school. I believe if he goes to the low-rated middle school that’ll the crap that goes on will be a huge distraction for him. Bad enough at the grade school, so many kids act out the principal has said she stays busy all day dealing with those kids. The teacher has cried a few times this year (she’s rather young).

@cherokeepatti Excellent! I hope he gets in! How old is he?

@cherokeepatti :) So is my nephew. A very crucial age!

@SW-User The headmaster at the private school said they don’t take students with behavior issues. They will have a section for those who have development problems, a small class for life management mainly.

@SW-User My nephew went to the middle school that is low rated. He got on drugs there...a lot of social issues, don’t want the boy to be a witness to daily bullying. There is another grade school nearby it and they are rated a 2 out of 10...I can’t even imagine how bad that school is for children to go to. My sister went there the first year it opened in 1968, it was a model school...an earth-terraced school plus it had open classrooms...
SW-User
@cherokeepatti Yeah, if you can prevent him from having to be around things like that, that's great. I cannot believe how bad some schools have gotten.

@SW-User People were moving here 30-40 years ago to get their children out of bad school districts in the Oklahoma City area...now we have some of our own.
