every morning, noon, and evening... 🙂

CaptainMac · 46-50, M
yes. No phones, no TV, no radio... just family time.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@CaptainMac A Captain after my own heart!
CaptainMac · 46-50, M
@Budwick welcome to the supper table.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@CaptainMac Thank you Captain!
If you will excuse me a moment Sir, I want to wash my hands.
Then, may I help set the table?
Nimbus · M
Sadly, no.
It juts seems so last century now.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User My nephew went to the middle school that is low rated. He got on drugs there...a lot of social issues, don’t want the boy to be a witness to daily bullying. There is another grade school nearby it and they are rated a 2 out of 10...I can’t even imagine how bad that school is for children to go to. My sister went there the first year it opened in 1968, it was a model school...an earth-terraced school plus it had open classrooms...
SW-User
@cherokeepatti Yeah, if you can prevent him from having to be around things like that, that's great. I cannot believe how bad some schools have gotten.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User People were moving here 30-40 years ago to get their children out of bad school districts in the Oklahoma City area...now we have some of our own.
no . i don't pretend someone else is here.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@DuchessOfMapleSyrup Neither do I.
SW-User
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User Where do you eat if not at the table?
SW-User
@cherokeepatti In my bed or car. Lolz
Mostly at the table though but sometimes on my own.
Theseus · 46-50, M
@cherokeepatti In front of the idgit box.
SW-User
Yes, unless there's football on.
nahright09 · 41-45, M
growing up we ate together, no tv in sight. Hope to carry that on with my family (if i have one!)
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@nahright09 There’s a part of me that wants to get some land, design a home to live in and have a treehouse to hang out in. No electronics will be allowed if I do that. It will be for bonding and relaxing, talking and sharing. TVs and phones, etc are fine but there needs to be place to get away from it.
nahright09 · 41-45, M
@cherokeepatti completely agree! There is a time and place for everything, taking a break from screens is very important. It irks me when i see families sitting together at a restaurant and no one is talking because they've got their head down, staring at their phones.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@nahright09 I know a teen girl who has done that. I don’t even know if I should be offended or if it is so habitual that she isn’t aware of what she’s doing.
Theseus · 46-50, M
Every once in a while. We have family pot lucks about once or twice a month.

As a regular thing, however, it's been years.
Poppies · 61-69, F
Only if we’re in a restaurant! Our table is covered with junk.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Poppies I had my sewing machine on the table for a few months but got a machine with a sewing table to use in the bedroom.
Poppies · 61-69, F
My sewing machine is part of a sewing table in the kitchen and it is also covered with junk!@cherokeepatti
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Poppies I bought a 1951 Pfaff with a sewing table, it has drawers, a side section for storage and a chair with two drawers for threads....the chair tucks right under the table so it looks like furniture...glad to have my supplies at hand, makes it easy to get things rounded up.
SW-User
No. We eat on the coffee table in front of the TV like real 'Muricans!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User We got a new coffee table, one of those with the top folding out to use to eat or use the laptop on...have never sat there and ate anything on it. But it’s really nice for storage, has drawers underneath. I just don’t want the boy to start eating in the living room now. He can spill milk or whatever and yuck.
SW-User
@cherokeepatti Those are really cool! I think you are setting a good example for him :)
SW-User
Nah I can’t remember the last time it even happened bc we all eat at different times
Yes, breakfast and dinner. That's what we tried to do in my family growing up.
JustNik · 51-55, F
We tend to eat at the table but most often at different times.
SW-User
What if you’re alone and have no family?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User You can still sit at the table but it might be lonely.
gmatthewb · 51-55, M
No, no family to share a meal with at the table. I eat alone all the time.
katielass · F
Only when we have company.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@katielass That’s what we used to do, when I’d make a turkey dinner etc.
katielass · F
@cherokeepatti lol I my case it's just me and the hubs and he eats at weird hours. So we both just eat in front of the tv.
Byron8by7 · M
Yes, when I have my kids with me on weekends.
SW-User
Not for yeeeeeeeeeeeeeears..
when we are together yes we do
Classy · 22-25, FVIP
Noo, we scatter
Budwick · 70-79, M
I insist on it!
It's really important to have regular time during which we can count on being with one another.
The daily, small chats at the dinner table keep us all connected.
