What is your best/worst memory involving swimming?

I went camping with a friend and his family, we were fishing for trout in a river. The water was low when we crossed the first time, there was a big rock we sat on to fish.
After a few hours the water level rose to my waist. I went to cross back by myself and the current was strong enough to nearly push me down. I anchored my feet in some rocks and froze.
I asked my friend to help me get across because I was scared. I’m not a very good swimmer and the water was flowing pretty fast. If I slipped, I’d have ended up in the rather large patch of ridiculously sharp rocks. So I wasn’t excited.
When my friend came to literally hold my hand, his dad yelled at him and told him not to touch me. So I stood there in the river. I wasn’t even halfway across. Then I slipped and almost didn’t catch myself. Obviously I’m now more afraid.
Nobody was gonna help me and that was okay, but when they started laughing at me I got pissed.
I made it out eventually, one foot at a time. But I was livid.

Now I don’t like rivers...that entire camping trip was BS too actually.
@GlitterBug His dad sounds like an asshole...

He was an asshole in more ways than one. I stopped going to their house and spending time with the family because of the father. I loved the mom and her kids, but something about him wasn’t right.
@GlitterBug not right in what way? Does this story get bad?
GlitterBug · 22-25, F
Not right in an almost sexual way. There was the time he practically begged me to sleep over, they had other company so there weren’t any extra beds or couches, he tried to have me sleep in his bed with him, not with my super gay friend. I was about 16.
And his step daughter told me stories. She moved out when I stopped coming to their house. She has nothing to do with the man now.
Saw him grope her while they were ‘wrestling’ with the boys. Told them to stop and he got defensive and put his hand on my lower back while he explained why girls should wrestle with boys. Again, I was 16.

No horror stories though, just some mildly uncomfortable ones. @Jimmyorjames
@GlitterBug yeah, that definitely sounds like you were close to getting some strange experiences..

Maybe you dodged a bullet there

I’m thinking I did. Glad I did, too. @Jimmyorjames
