Could you give a short philosophical discourse on the saying, "Death before Dishonor" ?

@puck61 hmmm Death before dishonor, well, this says that the right thing is more important than your very life. Dishonor is a word meaning shame. So this phrase indicates that a person would rather die than be ashamed, which goes against human survival nature. Philosophical enough?
