Pros -

* space saving (for areas where housing is an issue)
* Easier for people with certain disabilities to utilize (I've fallen and I cant get up.. but I can still get a drink)
* Seat will always be in the down position after use ... providing it's "put away" (and the ladies applaud).

Cons -

* Bidet/urinal too high for most people top access without a stool (the water nozzle on a bidet usually points up and at an angle... not straight down)
* Not animal friendly. A small dog or cat would have a hard time accessing their water dish (due to extra weight when opening door).
* Toilet paper may unravel into bowl when cabinet closed. While flipping roll to "under" position may help, it goes against most people's OCD.)
* Sanitation issues (the Tidy Bowl man is afraid of the dark)
* Safety issues. Failure to properly "put away" the john after use could pose a tripping hazard - especially in the dark. (Do you want your death certificate to read - "Cause of death: drowned in toilet because they failed to put it away"?)

If you have a dog, cat, or bird that you let roam loose (parrot, cockatoo or cockatiel), it should be second nature to put it away or, if there is a lid attached, closing it. Canines, felines, and birds could drown instantly and faster than any human could. I read about a woman who left hers open and her parrot was on the top of the commode watching her put things away from the store. She was interrupted by a phone call, and was only gone two or three minutes, but when she went back to get the parrot, he was on his side, floating in the bowl. She rushed him to the vet, who said the bird was in shock. The vet kept him overnight, and by the next afternoon, he was fine again. She said from then on, the lid stayed CLOSED.

@MaryJanine I was being humorful. Pets should never drink out of toilets as they aren't safe (pet can drown or be poisoned (cleaners or cleaner residue)).

I know - I understood. But, like I do, do you have some friends who might take you seriously, even when you are using humor to apply? I added my comments because people don't believe birds could be affected, too.
