Do you ever wonder what you're still doing online?

I don't know. I tend to keep on asking myself that question hoping to find some kind of answer but I never seem to do. Before I used to stay online for friends and some kind of connections, now not as much any longer and I'm not easily impressed either. Maybe my past experiences got me to this stage who knows. I just know I don't trust easily and I don't get too attached easily either and I'm difficult to persuade somewhat.

I wonder all the time. It seems a colossal waste of time, and it can jade you to a lot of things. Sometimes there are those redeeming moments and maybe that is why I stay.

@wyolatex Maybe I stay just hoping I can escape from "reality" for a moment and try to chill, have a good time but over time I found out online connections almost stressed me out more than in actual. Strange but true.

@SW-User It is strange. But people sometimes use the anonymity of the internet to do or say whatever they want without actually remembering that they are talking to real people. I love play and escape reality but there is still the respect involved.
SW-User
@wyolatex Agreed. I have unfortunately met a lot of disrespectful individuals or individuals who abused of my weak moments to get at me in some way or another. All that betrayal is what eventually made me run away and throw everything aside I guess. Sometimes I feel like I'm alone but I'm learning to beat that too.

@SW-User Well, you don’t have to worry, I am respectful and enjoy when people are honest. And while it is escapism to come online and interact, it’s also tied to reality because it’s a real person on the other side of the screen. Betrayal is tough to get over, but going through those times makes you stronger.
SW-User
@wyolatex Well yes. I can say it made me stronger. Sure, it's good to escape and feel some good emotions and stuff and even though you're socializing from far, sometimes bonds are just made. It's about when you argue and disrespect follows that annoys me the most. Usually. I'm glad you're respectful and I'm taught the same way too but I find it harder to stick to it as time goes by since I met a horrendous amount of judgmental abusive people ever since I began networking in the first place.

@SW-User I think this sort of area attracts more than its share of people who use the openness of online interactions to be more hurtful than uplifting. It’s the way we seem to operate generally.
SW-User
@wyolatex Yep. Some people tend to ask for serious advice, all I see is trolling of the worse fashion. Jeez. Empathy is non existent these days.
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@SW-User Yes, it is the prime habitat for trolls, always looking to tear others down and adding nothing to the conversation. Especially if a person is baring their soul in a public way...it boggles the mind how someone can just trash another.
SW-User
@wyolatex My close "contact" still thrashes me when challenged or you express a different opinion showing a huge lack of disrespect in favor of ego. Though I'm used to it, can't say I care much any longer about it. No use getting worked up over someone whose intent on showing you how better they are compared to you. Waste of energy. That's my honest opinion.
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@SW-User There is reason to tear someone down in the sake of ego. That is just a symptom of a fragile sense of self and the need to dominate others.
SW-User
@wyolatex Yeah but it's honestly annoying. It's not like the said "egocentric" person will gain anything from it. Who knows maybe deep down they think they do. It's so hard to understand yourself sometimes let alone others.
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@SW-User Maybe, in the end, that’s the lesson we all learn. And by not trying to understand we come out better in the end?
SW-User
@wyolatex Jeez. Yeah. There's stuff even about myself I absolutely do not think I want to understand at all. Just let it be and move on I guess.
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@SW-User Yep! Right there with you! I uncover stuff about me all the time and file it away as meh!🤷‍♂️
