@Zaphod75 We might be related. My great-grandmother was a Bibby.
Zaphod75 · 46-50, T
Really? Where was she from?
GlassDog · 46-50, M
@Zaphod75 Manchester, same as me, but I think the family originally came from Ireland in the early 1800s.

I'm not sure, i would have to check where my great granddad came from, i know it was up north somewhere but then again anywhere is more northern than me in the UK. I'm in Dover.
GlassDog · 46-50, M
@Zaphod75 I think a lot of the Irish branch of the family travelled to Liverpool (which was almost a third Irish in the 1850s) and then on to Manchester and the rest of the north. Having said that, a lot of genealogists think Bibby is a Lancashire surname, which would make sense in my case.
Zaphod75 · 46-50, T
Yeah I've read the Lancashire thing somewhere. I think my great grandad was a miner so that would make sense.
GlassDog · 46-50, M
@Zaphod75 None of my great-grandma's brothers were miners so if we're related, it's probably quite distant.
Zaphod75 · 46-50, T
Yeah probably I think its a fairly common name around that part of the UK anyway.
