I can’t stand it because this apartment building is 100 years old and the upstairs neighbor never takes his work boots off and the noise drives me insane!!!

Shayla · F
Whatever, but I'm more comfortable taking them off
@Shayla Me too
Andrewtoo · M
It's uncommon to wear outside footwear in the house here
gmatthewb · 51-55, M
Doesn't bother me, I'm the one who cleans the floors.

No shoes in the house
Hdryder555 · 61-69, M
Some of our female friends have jokingly said they have to cheek their pedi before visiting us
mazza62 · 61-69, M
Shoes off at the door please. We have a bench by the door where everyone can sit and take them off. This is especially useful when people wear lace up boots.
Byron8by7 · M
I leave my shoes by the door, and when I have my kids, I tell them to do the same. It keeps the floor much cleaner.
I wear shoes in my room and house all the time... I make sure i didnt walk in the mud before i do tho. I usually dont step outside where its dirty my shoes keep my feet warm
sexytannedgirl · 26-30, F
No way. They make a mess which need cleaning. In our house it's mostly bare feet.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
I think it's uncouth but do it sometimes anyways if I'm running back and forth.
Shaneishere · 31-35, M
@dunpender I never wear shoes inside the house. Just socks or bare feet.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
I think it's gross. I'm okay with having house shoes and indoor gym shoes in the house, but take street/yard shoes off at the door please - not sanitary.
TheotherAndy · 41-45, M
Not common here at all, frowned upon actually

visitors to my house may wear their shoes inside
I'd prefer them not to be barefoot
Sapio · 51-55, M
Outside shoes should be left by the door.

On the other hand, my guests do not have to take off their shoes, if they do not want too. Some are not comfortable doing that.
missit15 · 56-60, M
Off but it also depends on where you live and house rules.. Be respectful of the home owners rules!
I try my best to take them off as soon as I come inside, but when I rush back in to grab something that's not usually the case 🤦.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
...doesn't bother me except regarding boots, galoshes, etc. (rain, mud, snow...)
AmericanBroad · 31-35, F
It’s whatever
I have wood floors. I do tend to change from my outside walking shoes to Birkenstocks or slippers I keep on a shelf inside the door. But I never walk around barefoot.
@bijouxbroussard I used to walk around barefoot a lot but my arches (in my feet) are falling so I need to support them. I get backaches 😒

Do Birkenstocks provide good arch support?
It was never an issue for me growing up. I just made sure I wiped my feet on the mat before coming in. When I do now, it’s more a comfort issue, to put on slippers, for example. I don’t go barefoot.
Mordi · 31-35, M
It's stupid. I don't understand why someone would want to spend more time cleaning. 🤔
