How important is it to you that your weapon has a light?

Just curious about various shooter's opinions.

My university doesn't allow most weapons, so my weapon is a light, and I have to say, I'm fairly confident about it. It's a 600 lumen tactical flashlight, made of airplane-grade aluminum, and covered in sharp teeth. So, I can use it to maintain situational awareness, temporarily blind someone if necessary, and bludgeon them unconscious.
If I were in combat at night, the last thing I would want is a headlight on ny rifle. Infrared or thermal, but not a light.

Not important at all. I had one on my M4 but never on a pistol. The one on my M4 was useful when doing building entries at night but often we had on NODs.

@Powderflask That seems like another life ago. It's one I'm glad I don't have to return to.

@Msp940 sorry what I meant was this question started as a brotherly argument when pointed out that my defensive shotgun doesn't have a light but my predator rifle does

@Powderflask I took no offense. As far as the light it's all about personal preference.
