The brain areas associated with genitalia and feet are adjacent to each other in the brain's body image map. Foot fetishes could [i]possibly[/i] result from cross-wiring in the brain between the foot and the genital parts. Some neuroscientists claim that this is the reason behind this mysterious fetish.

The body image map is the same in male and female humans, but foot fetishism is mainly a male phenomon.
