I prefer Miss myself, but it wouldn't offend me.

marsbar · F
No, but being called ma’am makes me feel much older.
LyricalOne · F
Being called sir does make me a little cranky, especially since I never miss an electrolysis appointment.
Dusty101 · F
@LyricalOne 🤣 you are hilarious 😜

@Dusty101 😘

I don't mind ma'am from an American because they use that a lot!
But I hate being called dear and miss...
It can sound patronising!
@Dusty101 Dear is definitely too familiar from a stranger.
Dusty101 · F
@bijouxbroussard I used to get a lot of
"hi dear May we chat on here"
😖

Ma'am kinda sucks. I know its respectful, and I'm always gracious, but I'm not crazy about it.
at my age you get used to it
I prefer sir or ma'am though

No, I was raised to respect adults that way, so it doesn't bother me. However, it does make me feel old, lol.
Usually it's more like disappointment than offense.

No, why would it? I'm quite often addressed as "sir".

BelEsprit · 26-30, F
Offended, no. Confusing, yes.
NickiHijab · F

Yes ma'am. Sir.
Rocknrod · 61-69, M
Nope not being called sir. Being called ma'am could rile me though.
TJNewton · M
@GoldButterfly Ok sorry sir
@TJNewton sure no problem Ma'am
TJNewton · M
Not anymore. I felt weird first hearing it at around 40, though.
When someone calls me “sir” on the phone that bugs me, though. 😅

No, but I die a little on the inside haha.
