What inspires you?

I reach for my favourite dark khaki hat
with upturned brim
grab my walking stick
and follow the footpath to somewhere
I don't care where
we'll see when we get there
I walk till I can hear my own heartbeat
ahead I see the lush green forest
a path to a secret garden
I know as soon as I walk into that wonderland
of branches twigs and leaves
tree-ferns
birds calling and monkeys following
watching my every move
...It'll be cool
you cannot enter a forest without
making your presence known
I'm not alone
the smell of wet dead leaves intoxicating
the sound of water somewhere
I'm getting closer
cross a river with water so crisp and clear
I want to cup my hand and drink
I remove my shoes and sit there and listen
take deep breaths
I'm getting high
on air is so fresh
time to move on
here and there I'll feel the rough bark,
the giants are alive
they're watching me
I hug a tree
and whisper
what can you tell me?
you knew I was coming
didn't you?
I tickle soft green moss
a sense of anticipation
there is so much more
