Got a nice little collection of opera on dvd, can't remember what i finished last, i recall trying to get through Rossini's William Tell, it was awfully filmed with tv screens all around showing waterfalls.
@SW-User I'm a Wagner / Strauss man myself. But I like Rossini too.

Tell me, what are some of your favorite operas or opera composers?

@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays Wagner and Srrauss, good ones, i seem to gravitate just to the German and Italian mostly, from Monteverdi's Orpheus to Berg's Wozzeck.
@SW-User I love Verdi's Falstaff. One of the few Italian operas I really like. I love Eugene Onegin by Tchaikovsky too -- it's an amazing masterpiece!

@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays Forgot to mention Don Giovanni, and the trilogy of Philip Glass i like alot too with Einstein on the Beach, Satyagraha and Aknahten.
@SW-User I love them too. I saw Don Giovanni a few years ago at the theater. I love Nixon in China by John Adams -- that's minimalist. I like Phillip Glass.
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays You know what I think is a terrific little opera, The Secret of Susanna. It's about a woman who hides the fact that she smokes from her husband. He comes home one day, smells tobacco smoke, and thinks she has a lover. It's a comedy.
