In the classic Douglas Adams book "A Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy," we find out that a giant organic computer called Deep Thought, having been created answer the question "What is the meaning of Life, the Universe and everything?" spent exactly 7.5 million years pondering the question, and finally and solemnly announces that the Ultimate Answer is . . . "Forty two".
It maybe a generational thing, or maybe even a very British thing, but if anyone asks an obscure question, some bright spark will answer "42". It's that common. Here is a link to better explain it
