Well, it helps to know the people attending, so I can get an idea of their tastes... Without that information, I'd probably bring some appetizers, like a plate of vegetables, cheese, crackers, etc. That way there's more options in case someone has allergies or aversions to certain foods. And I'd also bring homemade rigatoni/shepherd's pie/something hearty that can be made in large portions.
