There are two sides to every story... if you're only hearing one, then you really don't know unless this happened to you personally. Some people really just won't believe the answer you give them, and keep coming back for more reasons. If the person was a narcissist, then you will never win.

I would say that if they leave then they were never okay... something was always definitely wrong for that to happen, unless they truly were narcissistic... which still makes them wrong.
If they come back pretending otherwise (with that person) then they definitely have a screw loose...
