What is a presentence study ?
@Underconstruction i basically do research into the inmates upbringing, educational history, employment history, mental health history, arrest history, etc and i write a report summarizing the details and distribute it to the judge, the inmates attorney and the district attorney.
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy Is that part of what they based their final decision on ?
@Underconstruction yep, usually the judge orders the study when there are extenuating circumstances or possible mental health issues that havent been detected. in this case, the guy had been in prison four prior terms and had an addiction problem since his teenage years. he had also been a drug dealer for twenty years or so, and is basically a sociopath.
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy Thanks for the answer. Very informative.

Do you have any opinion on the recent Colorado murder case , where a husband confessed killing the mother but denies killing the children saying she was the one who strangled them?

I´ve been following the case and the mother was addicted to the products ( uppers) she kept peddling online, saying they were her salvation and if it weren´t for them she would have snapped a long time ago.

I´d like to hear your insight if you are familiar with this case.
