What does it take for someone to end up in your circle of friends?

most seem to be. kind of seems a good majority are just here for sexual stuff than genuine friendships.

@badapple I think once you mute or block the worst offenders, you'll encounter a lot less creepy posts. I've met some pretty decent people here that I'm glad I got to know over the last few years and months, but it's not been easy

idk i ran into fake friends online too. so im really leery of getting to know people. it now just comes off as a fantasy because people can say or do what ever they want. it can be real or fake, just dont know the real them.

@badapple True. I always took the good friendships away from the site to really get to know them better. It's too easy to fake anything on here

even on social apps it can be the same. was lied to a lot by one friend over a year just via kik.

a lot. made up stores about her life. caught them saying things to me and saying something completely different with her other friends. when who you say you are and what you say are always changing then when i did ask her about it she went off on me.

@badapple Sounds like a self-esteem problem, which many people looking to make friends online probably have. Lying to get people to like you. It's sad. It's why I don't make many friends anyway. I'm willing to live with that emptiness. That's why I'm able to find people that will stick through it with me. Some people probably think they need to lie to be noticed

lie to fit in with the people they are around but it seemed like her sole mission was just seeing how many men she could talk with. questioned her on that too as she was getting cheeky with a lot of pervs, people who seem very rapey and sex offender types. might have just lied to gain attention. but that totally messed up my experience and trust with people online. after i called her out she was smearing me saying i stalked her, because i questioned her.

@badapple If you lie to get your needs met, it would make sense that you'd also lie to protect your ego. It's sad. I wouldn't let that bad experience ruin this site for you. Some things are worth taking a chance on, and friendship definitely counts as one of those for me

thats kind of the hard part because when i do see the overly sexual people on here it reminds me of that situation and i feel like just pushing people who act that way away.
