Do we reward stupidity?

With attention, not necessarily with praise. Whether as a society or as a website, does it seem to you that we give a disproportionate amount of attention to stupid people, posts, and antics?

We don't look at stupidity the same way. Some people call anything against their views stupid, some even coin whatever they don't understand stupid to avoid putting any efforts.

@1455spd If I wanted to avoid your question, I'd not respond to it. I am giving you attention, I just don't think of it as your reward.

People are attracted to controversial subjects, conflicts, shallow things, positive illusions..etc Does it encourage malapdative behaviours? Yes, if you're matching what pleases them.

@Miram From the perspective of the giver, it's not seen a reward. Attention is, in general, seen as a reward for the recipient. It's only when there are negative consequences that people wish to avoid the attention, and even then that's only to avoid the consequence, not the attention

If people didn't want attention, there's be little use in doing or posting anything non-essential publicly

@1455spd I mostly agree. I think in lot of times it is seen as a reward even by the giver. That's why they build expectations, and why it is treated as something spacial even when it is not invited.
We all want attention, some are selective about the type of attention they value and appreciate.
