Good question. Are Americans also prepared to lose entire industries due to unfair trade arrangements?

Why did our government impose minimum wage and other costly standards on US companies while encouraging unrestricted imports from countries that exploit their workers. The AVERAGE monthly wage in China is $1,400. "Average" means many workers earn less than that. MINIMUM wage in some parts of the US are $1,800 a month.

For a zinger, I suggest checking China's laws regarding labor unions and compare them to the US. Labor unions in China are a component of the Communist Party and not self directed. They are run by the employers themselves and are not allowed to strike. In essence they are more like employee clubs than what we think of as labor union.

The math behind trade with China and other communist countries was simple. Import cheap consumer goods made by exploited workers in sweatshops and make them affordable to Americans on welfare and other entitlement programs. And where does the US government get the money to pay all those entitlements? Easy answer: they borrow it from the Chinese government.
