What should one do when one is not feeling good and really really wants to text their ex because they always made them feel better?

OOh tough one.. tie your hands together, sit on your hands, throw your phone in the bin? I am thinking that unless there's a realistic chance that ex and I would be likely to get back together, or have agreed to remain friends, then it's really not a good idea to text him.. seems desperate and sad.. and that may not be a good position to be presenting.
