I agree with coping method yes.. I used to self harm a lot and would do almost anything to hide it from everyone though.. I get why people now think its for attention. Instagram I think helped with that a lot

@PlumBerries same here 😔😞manytimes my mom says you want attention so you do it 😐
@PlumBerries my point.
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
that is a weird thing for a mother to say im sorry
Deadgirl · 26-30, F
@PlumBerries yup 😞
@PlumBerries @Deadgirl very strange for a mother to say. I would think she would be concerned.

maybe she just doesn't understand it or the attention thing towards self harm is what she mostly knows about it.. regardless, if your child is harming themselves I would think a normal reaction is to be concerned

@PlumBerries yup first she was concerned then she used to say that and now she makes fun of my scars

@Deadgirl My daughter is your age and self harmed. I never understood it, but I knew she needed support. I couldn't make fun of her scars, ever. That's cruel. I still can't wrap my brain around it either way, but I know people who are suffering sometimes do things that don't make sense to outsiders. If its for attention,then they feel unloved and unwanted. And if it's for coping then they must already have pain in order to willingly inflict it upon themselves.

@PixieParty for me it was a release. It distracted me from what I was feeling mentally.. even if it only lasted a minute, it was a good minute
