Intelligent a holes.
They are the ones who push boundaries.

@1455spd maybe. I had an economics teacher like that. I think he managed to teach us way better than those who regurgitate text books passionately.

@SW-User I get that. I was a poor student. Had mental health issues, so I always missed class and fell behind. I caught up enough on my own to pass, but having a dispassionate professor would have made it so much harder for me

@1455spd okay that changes the scenario.
I understand.
Teachers don't have to be brilliant. They just have to know more than their students and how to teach them to think. Exceptionally intelligent people commonly make poor teachers because they lack the patience to help slower ones catch up.

As long as the teacher is slightly smarter (knowledgeable) than the pupil, passion and enthusiasm is preferable. If you learn 'how' to think the subject knowledge is self revealing.
I could handle an intelligent asshole better.
Something about passion, sincerity, and lack of intelligence really gets under my skin.
They don't get paid enough to care.

@Pianist1234 Maybe they really love to help people, maybe they wanted to pass their knowledge down to kids?
