@SW-User I get that. I was a poor student. Had mental health issues, so I always missed class and fell behind. I caught up enough on my own to pass, but having a dispassionate professor would have made it so much harder for me

Teachers don't have to be brilliant. They just have to know more than their students and how to teach them to think. Exceptionally intelligent people commonly make poor teachers because they lack the patience to help slower ones catch up.

As long as the teacher is slightly smarter (knowledgeable) than the pupil, passion and enthusiasm is preferable. If you learn 'how' to think the subject knowledge is self revealing.
