When someone becomes personally abusive I think the sensible thing to do is to end the chat, rather than descend to their level.

Do you agree?

no one is better than anyone else, which means it is impossible to descend to their level as you are already at their level, making it perfectly fine to be there. :)

@xSharp I would not personally abuse someone nor seek to be rude or hurtful towards them. So I strongly disagree.

@alan20 and if they had just tried to abuse you or your loved ones for no other reason then to do harm? are you better than they are for allowing them to trespass upon you with impunity?

@xSharp We're talking methods of defence now, which is different. Your argument was "no one is better than anyone else". I would hope I'd never gratuitously hurt anyone else, at any rate deliberately. So when I encounter someone who seems to enjoy it, I don't want to know them. Also when we think of people like Hitler, I don't see how you can maintain that nobody is superior.

@alan20 personal abuse is a type of violence and it can be prevented by self defense

hitler claimed that he and the german people were superior,

when i think of people claiming to be better than someone else for any reason, i think of nazis, so i dont see how you can maintain that anyone is superior
