@OllyCat12 I also studied the bible when I was younger. That's why I'm an Atheist now.
OllyCat12 · 31-35, F
@suzie1960 I was an atheist for 10 years. I just became a Christian last year.
carsonfry · 22-25, M
That is what happens when you actually read the Bible, and a good teacher can help a lot.
@OllyCat12 This is interesting that you two switched. lol I come to the conclusion that I'm a pantheist. @suzie1960

All I know is the Bible is completely true, and the more you study it, the more true it gets. A very good church is hard to find. But if you can find one with a pastor that actually teaches the Bible in depth, it will blow your mind how much you can learn about God.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@OllyCat12 @carsonfry Interesting. I was brought up nominally as a christian but I was only a real christian for about 10 years. During that time I made a thorough study of the bible. The more I studied it the more I became convinced that it was all false, just a jumble of myths and superstitions collected from older belief systems.

No doubt there are people who can convince others the bible is true but it's really no different from any other scam. Unfortunately, there are people gullible enough to be taken in by it. :(
carsonfry · 22-25, M
Obviously, you have not taken the time to read it for yourself, and even better find a person that understands the Greek and Hebrew translations. That is the roots of the Bible.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@carsonfry You're wrong. As I said, I made a thorough study of the bible, obviously you haven't. Sorry if the results of my research don't concur with your prejudices.
@suzie1960 People can look at the same thing and get different conclusions. I'm just glad you are both comfortable with your beliefs and isn't that the real point? @carsonfry

Well, I have no interest in arguing about it. But the Bible speaks Jesus Christ as savior for all humanity from beginning to end. Any part of that you do not understand, I would love to attempt to show you how it is true.

But we are all given free will, and love for God can only exist in free will, so it is up to you whether you want to seek truth or not, or want to just dismiss it.

Not hating on you at all, and I know this is a struggle sometimes, but knowledge is power and proper teaching is key.

So, I know a lot, but I do not know everything. I am not a biblical scholar, but I have learned from a few.

I would love to debate about it if you would be interested, or you might think it is the waste of your time and mine.

Either way, I would love the opportunity to prove my position.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@carsonfry I understand the bible very well thank you. As I said, I made a thorough study of it. I know it speaks of Jesus as the saviour of mankind but that doesn't make it true.

You talk about seeking the truth. I did and, what more, I found it. That's why I broke away from christianity. It's interesting how christians often refer to their religion as "the truth". It indicates a closed mind, unwilling to accept or even consider anything that doesn't precisely align with their preconceived ideas.

You're right that knowledge is power. That's why christianity spreads misinformation, to keep people like you (and me once) trapped.

I was a biblical scholar so I know a lot of what christianity teaches is false.

Many christians claim they have evidence that their god is real but not one has ever been able to present it. All they've ever done is spout more and more propaganda. If you have clear, unambiguous, independently verifiable evidence that the judeo-christian god is real, I'd really like to see it. However, if you're just planning to post more propaganda, don't bother, I've seen it all before.
