Both Stephen Fry and I would hope that you're right, because we certainly wouldn't want such a nasty thing loose in the universe!

@newjaninev2 Whoever said God was nasty? Why would a Creator being want to hurt His creation? That doesn't make sense. God is love and His love for us goes beyond all comprehension. You and Suzie 1960 are a part of His creation along with the rest of us and loves you both no less than He loves us. Whether you love Him back is your choice. As for me, I will always love Him because He first loved me.

@GodSpeed63
That doesn't make sense
In that case, the disease that Stephen Fry refers to whereby the parasitic worm Onchocerca volvulus drills holes through children's eyes doesn't make sense either.

and yet, there it is...

Perhaps you need to send some time on an oncology ward watching infants die from cancer. Actually, instead of just watching, perhaps you could try to do something to cure them. Or perhaps not.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 You're right, it doesn't make sense. Just more evidence that christianity is nothing more than a jumble of myths and superstitions.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@suzie1960 @newjaninev2 Christianity wasn't around when God first created man, so your blame on Christianity is null and void. God created mankind to love and cherish them and to give of Himself to them. All He asked of mankind was to love Him back and put their trust in Him. Your blame, Suzie Q belongs with man, who screwed things up and fell flat on his face by trading the truth for a lie. If God doesn't live, Newj, why are you blaming Him for for all wrong in this world. Your blame, like Suzie Q's, belongs to mankind.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 Your avoidance tactics won't wash here. I'm not blaming your imaginary friend at all because it doesn't exist in the real world. We're just pointing out that it can't exist as the benevolent creature you make it out to be.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
I don't have an imaginary friend. Maybe you do, but I don't. You only pointed out that you have no knowledge of who God is.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 Your imaginary friend is the one you call "god" but you already knew that. As I used to be a christian I know who this god thing is supposed to be but I also know it isn't real, it's all in your mind.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
I told you before, I don't have an imaginary friend. I have a living God who loves me and you. I keep asking you for evidence of your findings but you keep failing to produce them.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 You're getting confused. You obviously believe your imaginary friend is real but it isn't. If it were, you would be able to produce some evidence of its existence but, despite being asked several times by several different people, you've been unable to. It exists only in your imagination.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
You keep avoiding any evidence to support what you believe is true. You have yet to produce any kind of evidence that God doesn't live. Otherwise, you're believing a lie. This world is one big fence, we either believe in lies or we believe in the truth. I told you before, belief always follows truth, not the other way around.
fazer1k · 56-60, M
@GodSpeed63 You have yet to provide any conclusive evidence that the flying spaghetti monster doesn't exist but that's not a good reason to assume it does exist. It's the same for god or any other being you wish to claim exists. The burden of proof is on the person making the claim something exists, for obvious reasons. Being expected to believe in something just because we can't prove it doesn't exist makes no sense - if it does you are obliged to believe in the flying spaghetti monster as you can't disprove its existence.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 You repeatedly fail to produce any evidence to support your god hypothesis therefore there is nothing I need refute. As the analogy of Russell's Teapot showed, the default position is that your god does not exist outside your imagination.

I believe in the truth as demonstrated by real, tested, evidence.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
Still trying to blame me, the church, and God for your fall. You fell on your own and now you want to stay fallen. You're afraid to get back up, brush yourself off and keep going forward with God.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 I didn't fall, I escaped. You just can't accept that simple fact.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
Call it what you will, but something made you stray away from the truth. It wasn't God's Word. It was your misinterpretation of it due to whatever event took place in your life.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 Wrong again. No matter how often you say it, you can't change the fact. I didn't stray from the truth, I escaped the lies of christianity when I found the truth. You just refuse to accept it but you can't change the fact.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
What lies were those that you supposed to escape from? What made you think they were lies in the first place?
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 The bible is full of lies, it's all christianity is built on. Read it and find out for yourself, you don't need to take my word for it. Just keep an open mind when you do read it.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
You keep telling the Word of God is full of lies but fail to specifies what lies you're talking About. Something must've really happened to you that is making you think the Word of God isn't true. Please, don't tell me it's because you read His Word, I know that isn't true.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 You're right, I did not read your god's word because it doesn't exist. I just read the bible and found it to be no more than a jumble of myths and superstitions collected from many older belief systems. That why it's full of contradictions and misinformation. No omniscient being could possibly make that many errors. All christianity is based on lies, its only purpose is to cow the population.

I've posted one of the more blatant contradictions that immediately sprang to mind. Have you managed to resolve it yet?
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
Suzie-Q, you really need to be more specific on what your talking about. Saying that the Word of God is full of myths doesn't cut the mustard, nor, saying that there is no God doesn't cut it either.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 There is no evidence to support your god hypothesis therefore the default position is that it doesn't exists. I have already shown how our existence, what you claim is evidence of your god's existence, does not actually support your hypothesis any more than it proves the existence of The Flying Spaghetti Monster. By your own argument you must believe in The Flying Spaghetti Monster because you can't prove It doesn't live.

The whole bible is a collection of myths and superstitions. I have already given the example of how the idea of JC being nailed to a tree was taken from Greek and Norse religions. Wrongly calling the tree a cross (an ancient Pagan symbol) doesn't hide the fact that the story was copied.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
You've said a lot but you've proven nothing. Scientifically, God cannot be proven but the evidence that He does live is still with us just like He's still with us. Whether you accept the evidence or reject doesn't make it any less of a fact.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 There is nothing for me to prove. You haven't been able to produce any evidence to remotely support your god hypothesis so there is nothing for me to refute.

Can you prove The Flying Spaghetti Monster isn't real? The evidence that It is real and lives is still with us just like It's still with us. Whether you accept the evidence or reject doesn't make it any less of a fact.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
The old skeptic escape hatch routine. If you can't come up with evidence for your skepticism, flee!
