You only breathe fully out of one side of your nose at any given time, and your body switches the active nostril about every 90 minutes.

@princess126 Ever have a cold that stuffed up your nose, and in the middle of your stuffiness, you suddenly could breathe for a short time?
Nostril switching.
For further proof, put your nose gently on some glass or a mirror and breathe out your nose only. See which side makes the larger steam cloud.
