is google translate viable?

sometime when i chat to people who speak a different language i use google translate to communicate but ive never been on the recieving end of it so i dont know how effective it is n now i worry how it looks to them 😱

Mostly, yes. I run everything both ways to clarify a bit more. Like translating from english to dutch. Then copy and paste the dutch translation and translate it to english. You'll find more errors that way.
