What are your thoughts on getting a tattoo in Mexico?

I'm going to Mexico City tomorrow, and I'll have a local with me...I'm sure she will be able to guide me to a clean, reputable place, no? I'm thinking about it....thoughts?

Getting a tattoo in itself is not a good idea in my opinion, doing it at some place you know nothing about is not wise.
