How do you instill someone with false confidence?

Isnt confidence just confidence. If a person believes in themself thats all there is to it right?

False confidence is the kind we shouldn’t have. The effects of liquor are a good example.

Some drunk sees a short bow-legged young man walk in to a West Texas bar and somebody whispers the new arrival is a champion bull rider.

The drunk looks the bull rider up and down...short, wiry and young and says...Champion? Heck, if HE can be State Champion I could be Galaxy Champion. To prove this he heads for the mechanical bull, but even set on ‘driving the new baby around the park’ speed, the mechanical bull tosses the falsely confident drunk in one second and he ends up in the hospital in traction.

False confidence.

Thank you for BA. I was in a bar in Fort Worth some years ago where every second bar stool was a saddle. Three wiry bowlegged guys came in, two late twenties, one in his teens. Bull riders. The youngest took the stool with the saddle saying, ‘You old guys better stick to them safe little stools.’ Before my companion and I finished dinner, the kid fell off the saddle that wasn’t on a horse.

Again. False confidence.

I think false confidence is when you believe in yourself for the wrong reasons.

Feed their ego by praising them for things that they do that are wrong.

There is arrogance. Also, if your confidence is easily crushed, you're not really that confident.

don't tell them the truth
