Do you think parents who bring their noisy kids in the cinema are selfish?

Never had that problem here in South Korea.

@Poet123 Wow. Okay. Do parents not take the children to movies? Or are all the children so well behaved that none talk or cry in public?
Poet123 · 26-30, M
They do but if a kid starts acting out, they calmly take the kid out of the theater. @Serenitree

@Poet123 It happens a lot here in America lol

@Poet123 That's how I taught my kids to behave in public. Behave, or we leave. Sometimes when I had two or more, one would think I wouldn't punish all for one misbehaving kid. But I did. Then, next time, that one was left home, so he/she couldn't ruin it for the others. Only had to do that once in each generation of kids. Not once per child. Only one kid had to be taught and the rest remembered.

I also learned. No sugar before or during the movie. They could have popcorn or nuts or chips, and water, no sugary drinks and no candy.

@Serenitree And sometimes parents would publicly spank their kid. It usually happens in the villages then like the big city.

Our kids are taught to be mindful.

@Poet123 Yeah. Spank. Not here. Ask any of the Canadian or American people responding, here. Spank a kid? Get reported as an abuser, then you've the the children's protective services threatening to take your kids away.

Physical discipline is not allowed. They can take the kids out of the place. They may not push, pull, yell at, the children, or that good parenting will be reported, and those good parents will be in deep doodoo!

@Serenitree That's extremely stupid. Often you'll see a parent yell at their small child and even whack them a few times with a shoe or their hand. People just walk by because they're discliping the kid

@Poet123 Will the rules around spanking ever change?

Maybe. Canada has been told by the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child to stop allowing parents and teachers to use physical force on children for discipline.

More and more scientific research is showing that physical punishment is harmful to children.

The UN Committee wants to end the use of physical punishment on children around the world and is asking governments to change their laws if they allow it.

Some countries have banned all forms of physical and humiliating punishment. International laws and expert opinions can have an effect on what our courts think is reasonable.

In other words, what the Supreme Court stated was legal today might not be legal tomorrow because international laws are changing and research continues to show that physical discipline is harmful.
