Do you live near a battlefield?

I do. There were fireworks tonight and I pretended the cracks and booms were muskets and cannon. Watching the clouds flash red and white made it very realistic. 💥

Yes, actually my waterfront is the site of a historic War of 1812 battle.

@MethDozer Same here. 1812
MethDozer · M
@SW-User Cool.
People still find the odd cannonball in marshes and woods around here once in awhile.

@MethDozer The grave markers are so old now I can hardly read the names. I'd have to do rubbings.
MethDozer · M
@SW-User That's because of all the acid rain from Detroit and that area comes this way.

Speaking of graves. There is one that just got discovered from the battle I mentioned about 12 years ago. Crazy how all these years latter still find new ones.

@MethDozer sounds like we are neighbors
MethDozer · M
@Cajunfirefly Maybe, I don't see very many cajuns around here though.

@Cajunfirefly Unless you left Louisiana then I am closer to OP than you.

Op?
I'm in LA

@Cajunfirefly Op is original poster. I think he means he and I are likely neighbors.

Ah gotcha! Yes ! I'm in New Orleans where the war of 1812 ended
MethDozer · M
@CajunfireflyIn 1814 we took a little trip
Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans
And we caught the bloody British near the town of New Orleans

We fired our guns and the British kept a-comin'
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago
We fired once more and they begin to runnin'
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

@MethDozer Archaeologists found an ancient indian village nearby about 10-15 years ago
MethDozer · M
@SW-User oh cool. Does your area have those old earth mound things scattered around that were old Indian cooking ovens too? I forget what they are called.
SW-User
@MethDozer idk. Lots of arrowheads are found.
