So I want a dog and I'm looking at humane societies in the area for a rottweiler

And I'd say about 75% of the dogs I'm seeing are pit bulls. It's making me sad. I love pit bulls. I want a rottie for my first dog that I buy myself because I had one as a child and I absolutely adored him... But I'm thinking that maybe I'd like to give a pit bull a home now.

I have two rescues, and I love them dearly. It’s a mom and son (long story since I had the son first for a year)
The mom has some pit in her (that is easily seen) not that it matters in my eyes. She is great with everyone human, but wants to eat every other dog out there... so it’s a hassle at times 🙄
I think if you take ANY rescue dog in to your life, you are doing a great service 👍. Be careful if you do get a pit, and you want to move into an apartment. Many landlords won’t allow it, and it becomes a hassle to find a place to rent... I’m not saying I agree with them at all... just thought I’d pass the info along, if you are going to be in that scenario. Best of luck with your search!

@CCMorgan I won't be moving into an apartment. Right now I live in the country outside of a rural town and I will be moving into a house that my dad will buy for my mom and my brother and I in a nearby rural town within the next couple of years. I know lots of people with pit bulls and am not worried about whether I would be able to take my dog with me.

It's an epidemic where I live, the number of stray pits. I hope you find the right fit for you.

I wouldn’t get a pit bull but that’s just me.

I’ve had bad experiences with pit bulls and bulldogs
