Ever go car shopping on a budget? What would be a better choice; a decent used car or a cheap new one? Thanks.

My own car is from the 1950's and is still running well. Many older cars are less troublesome and do not rely on computer technology for their proper running. Maintenance is, often, far easier - although, replacement parts can be, sometimes difficult to find, most qualified engineers, though, can 'turn' many on their lathes and surface with their cylindrical or horizontal grinders - driveshafts, too, can have their component ends milled accurately. Caburretors are easier to maintain and replacing head gaskets is relatively simple. Electrical systems are, often, simpler, too. Stripping down the engines is far easier - head gaskets, easy to replace. Brake pads, bleeding braking systems is simple. Many more advantages, too!

@EugenieLaBorgia If he's looking for an older car, then you are absolutely right, but your car falls more in the classic car range than the simple used car range. I'm assuming he's looking at cars that may be only a few to 10 years old, and those cars would still have most of the computer tech that's in the new cars. Depending on the car, a car from the 50's or 60's might cost more than a new car!
@smmartydude Very true! There are still some 'bangers' around which are cheap but they would probably be more of a project or restoration. For me, this would be fine as a strong bond must always exist between a human and a machine.
