why is it when you spot a catfish they take it so hard they had been found out?

@badapple I have the first two blocked, but neither of them struck me as a catfish. How do you know they are? What evidence do you have?

@badapple atalanta just used a different picture. Everything else was real about her and she had a bloody good excuse to use one!

@Dusty101 Exactly. I really think people are misunderstanding what a real catfish is. Having a fake picture does not equal being a catfish.

@LyricalOne that's true... I think it means when they form a bond with someone claiming to be something their not!!! It happened to me I thought I was talking to a cool life guard on a swimming forum...and he turned out to be a Japanese married man who never swam in his life. He admitted it in the end when I got suspicious. But we became friends... he's rather funny actually. He had his reasons.

@Dusty101 Yes, you're not just using a picture but a phony identity to lure people into a personal relationship that you cultivate over time and can be potentially harmful. That's not the same as me using a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger because I want people to believe I'm muscular. 🙄

@Dusty101 no excuse to fool people like me i dont have my picture on here. she pretended to be that girl. i have no understanding why you guys coddle that behavior. just because she gave a sad story to why she did what she did is no excuse. she could be what she is now a cat. thats what anonymity is not trying to pretend you are someone.

@badapple How do you know she "pretended to be that girl"? I am not "coddling" anybody's behaviour but I do not accept allegations like that without proof, I never will.
