Why is it, whenever someone goes to jail, they always close their Facebook account before they go down?

Why are they so scared of other people looking at their Facebook profiles? After all, they've already been caught doing whatever illegal activities they committed or else they wouldn't be in jail. So what other reason do they have to close their Facebook account? I thought it would be a way for them to keep in touch with their friends while they are inside.

Most prisons don't allow inmates to email. And those that do use a specific system and monitor. Social media is a no-no at all of them but some figure out ways to get around it. That's what criminals are good at.

@SpencerMurgatroyd I always go to Facebook too when there's big stories about people. It's a fascinating look in to what makes them tick. What's surprising is how long Facebook leaves profiles up of killers and the like. I don't get that.
