Let's assume you were part of a criminal enterprise...

And that the police had suspicions regarding your activities and were thus surveilling you. They eventually question you, along with all other people belonging to your group, and make it clear that you will go free (perhaps with some benefits) if you lead them to the group's major members (i.e, the boss and his two frontmen).

Would you remain quiet or would you be an informant?
