Do you think many Britons are unaware the island of Ireland exists?

I've noticed on tv quiz shows it rarely comes into their minds as a possible answer to a question. Name a place that begins Dub.... Dubai? Dubrovnik? It brings out the poet in me:
" Mystery island lost in mist
Even by the sun, rarely kissed;
No wonder some natives are sometimes pissed
Do include us on your list.
Land of enigmas and of mystery,
But whatever you do, don't mention history"

I don't know? 😕Seems Ireland has been looked down on by some for a long time, I don't know why?

@Peaches Seriously though my remark was prompted by some British quiz shows where contestants usually miss the most obvious answers if they're connected to their neighbouring island. That's all.😜

@Jibby You missed the last line!

@alan20 I just wanted to give you the simplest answer. Had to get in and out quick I'm a busy man I got people to do things to see

Not true, we are aware of Ireland.

@MissMoon Good.

Ireland doesn't need England; they have the EU.
alan20 · M
@plinkplonk My tongue-in-cheek post was not about need or politics. But on that subject I think Brexit is a pity and a mistake. And the term Ireland also includes us in the North.

I know where you are coming from. You may find it hard to believe but it's a lot better than it used to be.

They haven't forgotten it enough to get out of it.

@Graylight I doubt if the majority of Britons or Americans really understand the complexities. The Anglo-Irish agreement acknowledges that the million descendants of Scottish and English settlers are also now Irish.
