why are roses the only flowers that given as a gift even tho theres prettier flower types than them

Ancient Greek and Roman iconography.
Lots of carvings and paintings depicting Aphrodite or Venus holding or cradling what's interpreted as a Rose.
.....That and clever marketing !

But i agree. Plenty of better flowers out there.!
