My mom is in a nursing home

I try to visit her each weekend. Sometimes it's hard. Those places are so depressing and it's tough seeing her like this. There are days I walk out of there in tears

Same with my mom... but she had her own apt. and had many of her old friends there...bingo daily....wanted her to move out here, but she was just too happy...

@Experienced33 Sounds like a retirement home, not a nursing home.

regular, apts..and small houses..

There are no apts or small houses here. How do the nursing staff give the required care if they are in outlying houses?

@LadyBronte they visited and direct phone contact...nice place..

That is regarded as retirement home/community here. Staff checks in and on them but no skilled care is required. Nursing homes here are for people who can no longer live on their own and require 24 hour nursing care of some kind on a daily basis.

I understand. Here they are separate facilities.

Our option was quite expensive...
