Is a law prohibiting blasphemy, blasphemous? [Spirituality & Religion]

Such a law implies a presumption that an "almighty god" isn't able to defend itself, that it needs man to defend it. In the UK, only the christian god is considered to need that protection, other gods are presumed to be powerful enough to look after themselves.

I hope your country smartens up and abolishes such an out dated notion of law. My own contry's blasphemy law was a source of shame to me most of my life, even though it had not been enforced for nearly a century. It was very inappropriate for a secular nation to pass such a law in the first place. On the bright side, it was removed from law just over a year ago. Don't give up hope. I'm convinced your government will be secular one day. Keep fighting the good fight.

@Dolimyte The UK is really a theocracy as the Head of State is a religious leader - the head of the Church of England. That link needs to be broken.

@suzie1960 I agree. Its a very old fashioned way of doing things that needs to end so that society can move forward.
