are people just becoming overly sensitive and looking for reasons to condemn others?

was reading an article of backlash about steve harvey's wife calling herself retarded and people jumping on her case of using the word. when are people going to stop being hyper sensitive?

i don't think it's being sensitive letting people know saying a slur is wrong
@SW-User but its not really a slur. we say it all the time around the country. people grew up saying it likes its nothing. now this generation of people are like nope cant say it, its a bad word.

@badapple people grew up saying other slurs like the n word as well but that doesn't mean it's okay to say them. like if you're saying it you're automatically making fun of disabled people. you can't really use it without making fun of disabled people so i think it's best of people just don't
@SW-User but pretty soon no one can say anything thats negative. retarded is actually a word. the n word was a derogatory word used for a race. retard definition "delay or hold back in terms of progress, development, or accomplishment." pretty soon no one can say words like asshole because every word is just too offensive.

@badapple asshole isn't used to mock a group of people who can't really stand up for themselves tho.

also, no one is saying you can't use the words. people are saying you shouldn't. there's think there's a difference
actually there is, the backlash of people saying that you shouldnt be using them. thats what the whole beef was about. people attacking others just for saying the word.

@badapple you're saying yourself that people are saying we shouldn't use those words, though? you can't blame people for expressing their opinions as long as they're being civil. now im sure a lot of those people aren't being civil, but then i don't think some of the comments on here are especially civil either so that goes both ways
