There seem to be two subjects which are almost guaranteed to lead to nastiness - politics and religion. Is it impossible for people to listen calmly

to views they disagree with and maybe even discover a seed of doubt in their own beliefs?

pretty much yeah, because both return the same issue! Money!
@SW-User Not at this level. Politics, maybe. Religion, no.

I always do my level best to stay calm and listen. Shaking somebody till their teeth rattle while screaming 'Jesus loves you' is somewhat counter-productive.

Political discussions are worse these days.

@SW-User No, I think you're right about money being a big influence. I just think it doesn't power religious discussions at this level.

I have been wrong before. I can only speak definitely on a personal level. I've never made a plugged nickel from religion or lack thereof.
