@Serenitree You are right, the reason we have so many is that the media makes a 24/7 big deal out of it for months on end so when someone wants to make a splash they know what to do. They could get rid of guns and someone would just do something else.

@Serenitree I agree but on the other hand school shootings have become such a regular occurrence that only only a few make it to the media radar as big news. I personally can't remember the name of a single shooter.

@SW-User You can't remember, but the disturbed kids who are doing the shootings wouldn't forget.
Remember, you're a sane, reasonable adult, who doesn't have the same anger issues, driven by adolescent hormones, that these shooters have. I don't doubt that some of them keep files, including photos of the scenes, and names of the shooters, and personal notes about them.
I really do think that many kids, who are on the edge of the violence cliff, are greatly influenced by the publicity the shooters get. For them even death is preferable to whatever they perceive as life. and to die in infamy is better than to live in unremarkable, yet painful, anonymity.

@Serenitree the sad thing is that it becomes harder and harder to get that notoriety- there really is a huge focus on "biggest ever"
