Why do some people think they are better than other people?

If someone is better or not, depends on the context. Of course, a medical doctor would do a better job as a doctor than I would. Just as an example. Don't really have any idea how to define human value.... does anyone know? The bull crap about being equal has no practical meaning, even though I agree we all have equal value at the core. A life has value.
