How far back do you go when looking at someone's posts?

When reviewing someone's posts, you only get to see 20 per page. How far back do you go when reading someone's posts? Or better yet, how many do you read to get to know someone?

And do you reply to them>

It depends. If I like what I'm seeing, I'll often go all the way back and comment. If not, I stop at whatever point I feel I have sufficient reason to not continue further.
