How many would think this a genuine mistake? Happened some years ago.

I booked into a cheap London hotel for an overnight stay. Not part of a chain and basic. Receptionist, not very friendly, checked my ID, signed me in. "Your wife is waiting for you in your room". I stared at her. "You don't have a wife? Better get you another room then".
