There's no future because we have no compassion and wisdom anymore.
There are obvious solutions that protect people and which allow people to have their guns. Nobody wants to consider them. Everyone is on their own trips.
And nobody gives a shit about anyone anymore. Lose a kid-- go fuck off 🖕 is the message from all sides.

I'm afraid to say that your country is in the verge of another civil war and this one will completely be different from the last one as this time no one will fight for a social purpose, and it will be all about personal purposes... that is too dangerous...
Education seems to be the only solution before it's too late.

@Soossie I know people who want that. You can feel that vibe here. We have caricatured each other to the point that we are no longer human. We're monsters.
We've lost our way. We think a political flavor or a man or women in a business suite is more important than our actual foundational principles. We also think the ends justify the means and sell our principles by the pound.
Sadly. Every day. We just want to move towards death and have it be meaningful. To love, contributed, have our pleasures.

Sigh!!
To be honest, I believe that is caused by Hollywood, the most entertaining business that through time and by its productions can easily change the culture of not only your nation, but also the culture of many nations.....
Education is important... If I could do anything about it, I would honestly create regulations against some of the Hollywood productions... Americans were the kindest people in 1950's , 60's and towards the end of 70's when Hollywood produced romantic and brotherhood movies, then it started ptoducing action, science fiction movies and capitan hero movies, and now look, every kid takes a gun to make a point by killing, and to be honest, those points in most cases are frustration of human emotions and needs. Those kids with guns are the saddest kids who need to be saved from this kind of culture... and only a change in the education system can help

@Soossie I appreciate your perspective. Sometimes its easier to understand ourselves through the eyes of others around the world. Others often have highly tuned political perceptions.
I think there is truth to what you say. We show violence in our media all the time. But we never show the full story. BANG BANG and somebody falls down. We don't show the gore, the suffering. Surgical drains, open wounds. The trauma afterwards. The destruction of families, friendships, relationships. Now we port that into games. Music.
With that is a profound cynicism. We don't trust or have faith in anything but ourselves. For right or wrong we don't trust the media, government, church, corporations, family. We don't even believe basic science. There is no faith in basic human goodness.
We can feel and see all of that right here...

@wildrosez Religion has also become complicit in this. It is too reactive to and responsive to politics. It used to stand above all of our secular mess. Now it's filthy in it.

@CopperCicada I honestly can't think of any point in history when religion and politics weren't closely intertwined, sadly.

@UndeadPrivateer Well. I have gone to sermons that have just been rants against this political party or politician. Or rants against some fringe social issue.
My memory was that religion used to make us the people to make the right choices. Not just tell us what to do.

@CopperCicada The Crusades didn't happen yesterday, and neither did the Reconquista, Inquisition, Holy Roman Empire, the Great Schism, and these are all just some particularly well known examples for Christendom, there are scant few religions without a political past. And it's not all distant past for Christianity either, the role played by Christian infighting in the El Salvadoran Civil War was not insignificant either, which we are still dealing with the fallout from. A very close friend of mine's family fled here to America to escape that conflict.
